  38. First, cut the reset line to the drive, I *think* its the red wire,
  39. pin 1. Some drives spin down when reset, and can't get back up quick
  40. enough to show up. But dbl check the wire number from another source,
  41. I might be wrong! And you could have the cable upside down which
  42. would make the red wire #44 instead! The cable itself doesn't care.

  44. Second, I had similar problems, which were cured when I quit
  45. formatting it during the install, and used the quick format option
  46. instead.  Its been bulletproof since.

  48. Third, *NEVER* do a *low level format* on an IDE drive. Most won't
  49. let you anyway since thats a factory operation.
